Has Jira 8.0 affected notifications?

Since the upgrade, we have noticed several missed notifications. Users no longer receive emails when:

1- they are assigned to an issue

2- they are mentioned in a comment

 

Is this a bug? I have confirmed that the new "batching email notifications" feature is NOT on and no changes have been made to the notifications scheme.

Katrina,

An upgrade doesn't typically impact your data. There could be a bug in the environment that was introduced with Jira 8.0.

It appears that there are at least some issues with notifications in 8.0.1 https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDSERVER-6253?_ga=2.265981004.210367485.1561384122-1061587063.1493399982 so it is possible you are also experiencing a bug.

Have you checked your mail error queue to see if those items aren't able to be sent? What about the outgoing mail log?
