Robyn Penketh

Hi,

I am following this article for basic hash

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracore/basic-encryption-975040998.html

I keep getting this when running the command

Error: Could not find or load main class com.atlassian.db.config.password.tools.CipherTool

Thanks.

Hey Robyn,

One thing that's easy to miss in the instructions is that the command needs to be executed in Jira's bin directory (<Jira-installation-directory>/bin). Otherwise, the java command line tool won't have a reference to find the Atlassian cypher tool package.

You can check to see if you're in the right directory by looking for a password-cipher file. In Jira 8.9, I've got this version in my bin folder:

password-cipher-cli-1.0.15.jar

Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks
