Getting ready for ACP 120, how is the exam in its latest form?

I am preparing for the Atlassian ACP 120 Jira Administration exam and would like to hear from people who took it recently. I want to understand what the current version focuses on. I am wondering about a few things:

• Is the test built around real Jira admin scenarios or is it more about memorizing feature lists
• How much practical experience should I have with workflows, schemes, permissions, configurations, and project setups
• Were there any question types or topics that felt unexpected compared to the official outline
• What study materials helped you most while preparing

I completed ACP 120 not long ago and here is what stood out for me:

• The exam uses many scenario based questions. You are often selecting the right configuration that solves a specific admin problem. Understanding how Jira components fit together is very important.
• Real familiarity with issue types, workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, field behavior, and project configuration is helpful. A lot of questions rely on knowing the effect of small changes.
• Some questions explored advanced permission details, global configurations, and troubleshooting steps that were deeper than expected.
• My best study sources were the official Atlassian prep course, documentation for workflows and schemes, community discussions, and Study4Exam practice questions, which helped reinforce scenario thinking.

If you understand the logic behind Jira administration rather than just memorizing menu paths, the exam becomes much easier to navigate.

I took the ACP-120 a few months ago and prepared for it in about two weeks, using only Atlassian University resources. My advice is to start by getting very familiar with the official exam scope:

Each section in that document includes links to the relevant documentation, and it gives you a very accurate picture of what the exam actually tests.

After that, the key is hands-on practice. I strongly recommend working with three separate accounts:

one Jira admin account

one project admin account

and one standard user account

A lot of questions revolve around “who can do what,” so being able to test permissions, schemes, workflows, and configurations from different perspectives is extremely helpful.

Welcome to Atlassian community.

In my opinion the test is more about memorising things and practice question bank.

You need to have practice with permissions, fields, roles and automations, and components logic (very important)

It is important to know how are the questions composed and the way they ask, some questions are tricky for the way they ask, not for the content.
