Hello,

I am trying to find a setting in JIRA that only sends an email notification to a person when he/she is @mentioned by someone in a ticket.

Right now, jira send a email notification to anyone who either reporter or commented in that ticket for each and every chance being done in the ticket. This is spamming our inbox and important tags in the ticket are being missed by concerned person. How can I limit this please?

Hi @Juhi Jaiswal

There are few thing you can do.

  • Look at the Notification Scheme used in the project(s)
    • Remove user/group/role from created or comment events
  • Go to Jira Administration | System | Default user preferences (USER INTERFACE) and make sure "Notify users of their own changes" is No.
  • Check the workflow post functions which might be sending emails as well.

I hope it helps.

Hi! I came upon this now and have a similar question. I understand how to change the project notification settings, but what if  I want to do this for only one specific user. i.e. all other users in the project receive notifications according to the scheme but a specific user only receives notifications when they are tagged.

thanks!
