My client is currently evaluating various Test Management tools that integrate with Jira. We are looking to evaluate multiple Marketplace Apps. The best way to conduct this evaluation is to launch the Free Trial for each app.

I understand after the 30-day Free Trial period, the organization is automatically billed for the app. Since we're evaluating multiple apps, we do not want to purchase one until we've had the opportunity to play with them during the free trial. My client uses a procurement process for any purchase. Therefore, we must evaluate various tools before we select the best tool for the organization to submit for procurement.

Can Atlassian Marketplace support evaluating multiple apps via the free trial period without a purchase commitment?

Hello @Rebecca McKaughan

You can install as many apps as you wish for trial evaluation. Each one will have its own trial period based on the installation date and the trial period offered by the vendor.

If you do not want to be automatically billed for the app at the end of the trial period you will need to Unsubscribe the app on or before the expiration date of the trial.

If you have a Premium subscription for Jira, you may want to investigate the use of a Sandbox environment for installing the apps for trial.

You can destroy the sandbox and deploy a new sandbox and then install apps again for a new trial period on the new sandbox if you need additional time for your evaluation.

Alternately you can contact the app vendors directly to ask if they will authorize extending your trial period. If they authorize it, you can then open a support case with Atlassian, providing a copy of the authorization from the vendor, and Atlassian support can then change the expiration date of the trial for the app.
