For PI Planning, is there a way to set actual dates for the PIs?

When setting up work for PI planning, we don't have a way to map out our PIs according to actual PI dates.  So when viewing the roadmap, our features don't align to a specific quarter.  Currently, we designate a PI by adding a label to a custom field.  I know there is a better way to do this.  What solutions have you guys used for this scenario?  Thank you.

You might consider using Releases to represent your PI's. They are an out if the box feature in Jira and they have a start and end date associated.
