Fixversion and Sub-Fixversions

We use Program Increments.  Across teams we use a Fix version for reporting across teams.  Can I create sub Fixversion and have Stories in both.  The idea is to get release notes by sub version as well as Fixversion.  IE fix version 1.0 and Fix version 1.1 (1.1 contains a sub set of stories in 1.0)  I want to generate release notes from the sub-versions.  Hope this makes sense. .

You can create as many versions as you want under Releases and as long as your project setup allows you to select multiple versions for the Fix Versions  field, you should be able to assign multiple values and generate release notes out of them.

there arent any separate concept of sub version in jira though.

if your jira / project admin is generous enough, then, another option would be to create a new custom field called sub-version which will function same as Fix Versions field, (meaning this will also get the versions from Releases) , but, you can train the users to select only the sub versions for the new field and main version for the Fix Versions field.
