Filter search EarliestUnreleasedVersion() + 1

Some of our developers work on issues on the earliestunreleasedversion +1.

Is there a way to set the filter so it searches for these? or do we have to hard code it every single version?

In JIRA onDemand, yes. You will have to hard code it as third party plugins are not allowed.
