Field defined in screen layout not showing

José Freire June 17, 2025

Hi everyone,

I have field(s) in my Issue Layout that are not showing in the actual screen.

Could you clarify if this is a bug or if I'm missing something?

As an example, fields Progress and Progress Sum (in the layout below) are not displayed in the actual screen. I know this is the correct layout for that specific screen as I've accessed it from the page itself, through the "Configure" option in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Can you check on the below as well

  • Check if the fields are added to the screen of the issue type for all Create, edit and view screen
  • Try checking with Field Configuration:

    • Jira Settings > Issues > Field Configurations
    • Make sure the field is not hidden in the configuration used by your issue type

Hi Santosh,

- they are added to the 3 screens (I'm currently using the same screen)

- The 2 Progress fields "missing" aren't showing under Jira Settings > Issues > Field Configurations. Only the custom Progress (%) is showing

Thank you

Hi Jose,

This might be related to an incident that Jira had with showing the child issues for Epics. If the progress is based on this, that was probably the issue. It should be fixed now if you check it again.

Right, @José Freire  - is it working now?

José Freire June 18, 2025

Hi John, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the fields are still not showing. They never have, actually, since I've added them to the screen layout.

Also, if I use "Find my field" for those 2 "Progress" fields, they are not on the list.

@José Freire can you go to the custom fields options and check the contexts for both the fields, please see that the issue type and the project are added under context for these fields.

Hi, Santosh, thanks for the suggestion.

I've checked and the fields are not listed there but they aren't custom fields so I think that behaviour is correct.

Is there any other validation I could make to troubleshoot?

Thanks

Are these fields coming from a third party app?

José Freire June 21, 2025

Hi John,

These fields (Progress and Sum Progress) are standard. The one I created (Progress (%)) is the only field currently showing.

Thanks

Where are you expecting them to show up? If in the right side, I don't think that's what they do. Do you have progress and % on the Epic for the children? Or for a Task and the sub-tasks?

José Freire June 21, 2025

I was expecting them to show in the right side. I do have them under "All work", as an example, but I would expect to also see them on ticket-specific screens as they are included in the screen configuration and layout
