Field Configuration missing in 'associate an Issue Type with a Field Configuration'

Dave Funk August 29, 2024

I created a Field Configuration Scheme and a Field Configuration.

I can associate the Field Configuration Scheme with a Project, but when I 'Configure' the Scheme, the Field Configuration I created does not appear in the Field Configuration drop down list in the 'associate an Issue Type with a Field Configuration' window.

Any ideas?

So my Field Configuration does not appear in the drop down list, but if I start typing the name in the search window, it finds it.

Hey Dave - You aren't my brother are you?  I have a brother named David, lol.

But yeah, Jira is funny like that in places - not real consistent some times. But that also tells me you probably have a lot of Field Configurations. Is that the cased? And if so, why?

Ha ha!  I have no brothers.  :-)

Yes there a a lot of Field Configurations.   We have a lot of Projects.

Well, you have an honorary brother if you want one,  haha.

If you want some advice, you should move towards creating projects using and existing project as your "template" and thereby share the configurations. That will keep you from having so many.

But as of now, I would settle on a single Field Config (FC) and update the existing projects to use that FC Scheme as much as possible. Then delete the unnecessary ones.

Thanks, (brother) John.  :-)
