Features & Stories Relationship

Hi Team, We have set up only Features & stories for our project. How can I link the stories as a child to the features so it would show the hierarchy between Features as parent & Story as child?

Are you working with Jira Cloud or self-hosted Jira (Jira Server or Data Center)?

The native issue hierarchy for Jira is:

Epic
|-- standard level issues (i.e. Task, Story, Bug, etc.)
    |-- subtask level issues

Jira allows you to create custom issue types at only the Standard and Subtask levels, and it also allows you to change the name of the Epic issue to something else (such as Feature).

Did you create your Feature issue type by renaming the Epic issue type, or by creating a new issue type named Epic at the standard issue level?

If you created your Feature issue type as a new issue type at the standard issue level, then you cannot make the Story a child of the Feature in a way that Jira will treat it as a parent/child relationship.

If you have a portfolio management tool, like Advanced Roadmaps for Jira, then there are some options for getting Jira to recognize the parent/child relationship.
