Facing issue while shifting from Jira internal directory to LDAP. How to provide the software access

ANALEC September 25, 2020

Facing issue while shifting from Jira internal directory to LDAP. How to provide the software access to the LDAP users?

Also how to add users to existing Groups present in Jira?

Sharing one screenshot where there are two users, one is inactive (which is from Jira internal directory) and another one is from LDAP server.

I now want to provide access to Jira Software and i am not able to do that.

Kindly help me out.

Hi @ANALEC

I can see from your picture that :

  1. AD User does not belong to any group : Please notice that groups are important in order to give access to Atlassian Server products
  2. AD User does not have the same username as the Internal User

Have you configured local groups? (link). As mentioned in point 1, groups are the only way you have to give access to Jira.

So here are two solutions :

  1. Configure local groups and assign your users to local groups
  2. Browse LDAP groups and use theses groups to give access to your users

Here is how to give access :  you have to go to System > Application > Application Access and then you can choose which groups can access your Jira application : link
