Facing challenge listing tickets from multiple projects in single board

Problem: Trying to combine CS tickets in 1 project and roadmap tickets in other into single sprint board.

Expecting: Way to combine all the work team is doing in both the projects and track the velocity holistically under 1 sprint/board.

I would appreciate any help on solving this!

Regards

Savita

Are these projects Company Managed projects or Team Managed projects? It will say at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left when you view each project.

You can use @Gaurav 's suggestion to create a filter that pulls the data from the two projects, save that filter, and then create a board based on that saved filter. This works well for Company Managed projects. It does not work as well for Team Managed projects.

Creating a board from a saved filter was designed to work with data from Company Managed projects. Team Managed projects are designed differently. When you create a board from a saved filter for data in Team Managed projects, the board and backlog screens will not behave the same as the boards created automatically for the Team Managed projects. If this is your scenario and you want to know more about the differences, let us know.

I see. We have team-managed-project where I am trying to make these board changes.

Based on your answer it appears that we will not be able to get the multi-project board working properly for team-managed projects.

In a comment in the following article I detail some of the problems I found with trying to display Team Managed project data in a board created from a saved filter.

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-articles/Multiple-boards-in-Business-and-Team-Managed-Projects-You-bet/ba-p/1719761

I have not looked specifically at the display of sprints or estimation data.

The article doesn't speak about trying to display multiple projects' data in a single board. It is oriented more towards having multiple boards that display data for a single Team Managed project.

Team Managed projects are intended to be totally independent of other projects. Each can have its own customizations for workflow and fields. They were not intended to be aggregated for reporting or management. If you really need to do that, you should consider shifting to use Company Managed projects.

Hello @Savita Praveen

For this purpose, you need to create a filter that combines the issues from the required project with any other conditions as required by the business scenario. After that, you can create a board and use the option of creating a board using a filter query.

Please accept the answer if it helps.

Hi @Gaurav

I tried this.

1. Created filter for multiple projects tickets and saved it.

2. Created new board for those projects

3. Updated board filter

Now I see all the tickets from those projects listing in the board.

But here is the next challenge:

1. Objective of combining these projects in single board was to track the velocity together and now I see estimation is not shown in this board even though the issues has "story point" estimations added.

2. Also, the active sprint backlog is not showing all the tickets from both projects which are in same sprint and only the active sprint board screen showing all the tickets displayed.

I am wondering what would be the difference between active board/active sprint backlog in case on multi-project board.
