Exporting Data from one Jira cloud on to another Jira cloud without impacting the existing data

John Rajesh April 10, 2018

I have imported the data (zip file - xml format) from one JIRA Cloud & wanted to export the same data on to some other JIRA Cloud, without impacting the existing data on the second JIRA Cloud.

Please do let me know the step by step instructions / process on how to export the data from one JIRA to another JIRA.

Hi, John.

Unfortunately, we don't have a single project export/import option in Jira Cloud. We currently have an old feature request suggesting the implementation of this feature:

In line with our Feature Request Policy, we'd suggest you comment on this request with your specific use-case and watch it in order to hear about updates on the development cycle. I also went ahead and linked to this ticket in a private comment to provide more visibility on the feature request.

The other option would be to use a Jira Server instance where you have the project import option, so you can export one of the instances entirely and the second one you import project by project. After you have both of them merged in the Server instance, you can then generate an export of the server instance and import back into Cloud. This process is described in the document below:

In case you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate in letting us know, we will be glad to help!

The following link (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-merge-two-different-jira-cloud-applications-together-779160767.htmlis not working, please check & share the correct one please.

Hi Suren,

I am able to import the exported data (.zip format) on to the new Jira cloud. But it is not displaying in proper format. Please find the attached screenshot for your reference.

Also the old Jira cloud account will be de-activated on 23-Apr-18 & after that we do not have any access to this. But we have already taken the back-up file & copied on to our server. Please do let me know if there are any other alternative methods to do the same.
