Someone doing with the transfer of one project from the Jira Cloud to the Jira Server. How to make a translation if the plugin uses plugins that are not in the server?

Hello Yevhen,

I understand that you would like to migrate a single project of a JIRA Cloud instance to Server, is it correct?

You can easily do it by performing the steps in this article:

Restoring a project from Jira Cloud to Jira Server

You cannot import a project directly from Jira Cloud to Jira Server — the importer will display errors about version mismatches. If you want to restore a project from Jira Cloud to Jira Server, follow the steps below:

1 - Install a new Jira instance (in addition to the one that you want to import your project into). This will be a temporary instance that is used to store a full Jira import from Jira Cloud. Ensure that the version of this temporary instance matches the version of the Jira instance that you want to import your project into, e.g. JIRA 6.2.

2 - Do a full Jira migration from Jira Cloud to the temporary Jira instance. See Migrating from Jira Cloud to Jira Server applications.

3 - Export the desired project from the temporary Jira instance.

4 - Import the project into your desired Jira instance, by following the instructions in the Restoring your project section below.

5 - (optional) Delete the temporary Jira instance, once the project has completed.

That being said, I must confess that I have not understood what you mentioned about the plugins, but it seems that you are needing to transfer a functionality (Translation) provided by a cloud plugin to JIRA Server. Could you please elaborate it a little bit more and let us know what is the plugin?

Let me know if this information helps.

Hi, yes, I have several cases:

1) Migrate one project from server to cloud

2) Migrate all instance from server to cloud

3) Also, I need to migrate from cloud to server (thank for answer)

In all cases plugins a not migrate with information. So, if I use, a Workflow extension in my Jira Server project, for example, how I can migrate a project to Cloud, without information related to this plugin?  I don't need this plugin anymore)

@Petter Gonçalves Your answer answers one of the cases, thanks! But maybe you know what to do in other cases (so that I do not create new questions)

Hello Yevhen,

Thank you for the provided details.

1 - Unfortunately, we don't have a supported way to migrate single projects from Jira Server to Cloud, however, we are currently developing a Cloud Migration Assistant for Jira which will provide you this functionality, as mentioned in the feature request below:

Provide support for "Single Project" migration from Jira Server to Cloud

For now, feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to receive notifications about any updates.

While this functionality is not implemented, feel free to check in that same feature request the multiple workarounds provided by our customers and Atlassians. P.S: Since they are not supported, I recommend you to test it first in a test environment, just to make sure it will work as you expect.

2 - You can follow the steps in this documentation to properly export your entire Server instance to a Cloud one:

  1. (Optional) Export users and groups to CSV
  2. Back up your Jira Server database
  3. Back up your Jira Server attachments, project avatars, and logos
  4. Import your server database backup into Jira Cloud
  5. Import your Jira Server attachments, project avatars, and logos into Jira Cloud
  6. Review and grant access to groups imported from server
  7. Re-add yourself to groups imported from server
  8. Complete post-migration checks

P.S: Make sure to read the Before you start section of the documentation to make sure your environment is ready to be migrated.

Let me know if you have any questions about the steps provided.
