Export issue statistics (e.g. # created & resolved per project) from JIRA?

I would like to quickly and easily see some summary statistics about my projects. For example, I'm interested in seeing the number of new issues submitted & resolved in the past 60 days for each of my projects. 

I want to take that information and normalize it by the number of developer on those projects. Therefore I probably need to export this information out of JIRA, unless there's a customizable gadget that lets me perform arithmetic on the results.

Can anybody suggest a way to accomplish this?
