Is it possible to exclude a certain issue type from appearing in the Quick Search popup?

Hi William,
Yes, but it will block access to those issues entirely. It's an all or nothing deal because any issue a user can access will appear in the Quick Search drop-down. To prevent access, use Permission and Issue Security Schemes. Cheers!

That's not super helpful - I still want to issues to be able to be found, just not via the Quick Search - is there a file on the server I can edit to manipulate the JQL generated?

Hello @William Yeack

Indeed, it's not possible to manipulate the JQL in the quick search. We have a couple of feature requests created to allow the restriction of the quick search:

Limit "quick search" to the current project

Alternate JQL Creation for Multiple Words in Quick Search Box

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestions to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates. Also, you can sign-up with your own account and create your own suggestion if you think that your request would not be fulfilled by the existing ones.

At this moment, you can use the smart queries to display issues from specific issue types, however, you will need to further edit the JQL query filter to display the issues you need:
