How are you trying to update the description field and what content do you want to place?

My initial thoughts are permissions issue, character length, or potentially related to this media upload bug that appears to be ongoing ( https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-95763 )? Have you tried clearing cache or attempting to update the description in another browser?
