Trying to upgrade our jira installation from 7.3.1 to the latest (7.10.0) which failed to startup with following error:
Database: Your database is using an unsupported collation
Checked my database, which is (and was on 7.3.1) using en_US.UTF-8.
It is mentioned to use the supported collation like:
As 7.3.1 was supporting the current collation, am looking for some notes on when jira did stop supporting en_US.UTF-8, but can't find it. Any ideas on this?
Hi @Walter-42 ,
Can you please let us know the Database type you are using. It is better to fix the collation format and then proceed for the upgrade. It is always recommended to use the supported collation.

Amith,
For what it is worth, we are at this time using postgres72.
In the mean time we have been upgraded to Jira 8.4.1. This issue was opened in june 2018.. I can not recall anymore what I have done to solve this issue, nor know what database I was using at the time, but looks like somehow I have been able to fix this...
