Hey there!
Q: Why does Jira automations throw an error under "send user specific e-mail" for the field adjust sender-e-mail-address after updating the rule owner without making any other changes to the rule? The sender e-mail-address should remain automation@companyname.atlassian.com
Circumstance / thoughts: I'm updating the rule owner of certain rules in our automations after the original rule owner left the company. However, only updating this single field still leads to the aforesaid error message, which doesn't seem to make any sense to me. See Screenshots before update (lower screenshot) and after update (upper screenshot).
Would the sender address change from automation@companyname.atlassian.com because the rule owner was changed? And what would the new sender address be?
Issue is: The error message won't allow me to save my changes, i.e. the old rule owner stays in place...
Cheers,
Raimo
Hello @Raimo Neumann
Changing a rule's owner doesn't alter the sender email.
Jira is likely just re-validating the entire Send customized email action upon saving, blocking the update if an old value now fails current validation rules (a known issue if your site URL changed in the past).
Open the email action, ensure the Email name is filled, and re-select the From option using just the prefix (like automation).

you're right. Selecting any other sender pre-fix from the dropdown, then selecting individual and typing in the individual pre-fix again worked!
Thanks for your speedy help. I'll nickname you Lucky Luke now, since you're answering faster than your shadow. đ
