Error creating epic from Plan view in classic - using the '+create issue' link

Classic Project Jira cloud - using a Plan I created, trying to add an Epic using the '+create issue' link. A new Epic is created - but not assigned a number, and the Epic link brings me to a board view instead of the Epic.

You get worked through this? Basically, you can create it but it is not really saved until you Review the plan and save it there.
