Epic showing up as an issue and without a label

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
Everytime I create an epic it shows up as an issue on my board (it's own card). It also doesn't pull from the summary field and continues unlabelled which makes it difficult to attribute to stories and tasks.
