Epic Name vs Epic Link

Ryan Zaucha July 30, 2020

I can't figure out how to use automation with Epic Link. I only see Epic Name for the options and it isn't working.

Hi @Ryan Zaucha

Please try using the Advanced Compare Condition, and checking on the smart value:

{{issue.epic link}}

Best regards,

Bill

Hi @Ryan Zaucha

This can be done using Advanced Compare conditions - utilising Epic Name I find works best.

To do this:

  1. Go to your rule and select your existing condition
  2. Click the "delete component" bin icon next to the condition's name
  3. Add the condition Advanced Compare Condition
  4. In "First Value", enter {{issue.epic.Epic Name}}
  5. In "Condition", select Contains
  6. In "Second Value", enter "Front"
  7. Once complete, publish the changes to your rule

^ Tested this in our instance and it appeared to work fine :). You could use {{issue.epic.Summary}} if you prefer.
