End of Life check "unable to verify"

We just upgraded to 7.2.3.  When we log into our JIRA server instance, there's a nasty looking prompt that says the end of life check could not be performed.  But when I go to the "JIRA health check" page, after a couple minutes all statuses are green.  If I drill down further, I can find this message:

"Result Unable to verify the End of Life date for version '7.2.x'. The check has not been performed."

But no details on what went wrong.  What might be going wrong?

Yes.  I think I had to change the launch options to use a proxy:
