Email notifications, avatars are appear broken

Hi

Whenever I receive an email notification for projects that I am a watcher or have made comments on, I have been noticing the avatars appearing broken. The weird thing is that not all of them are broken. I had a running theory that the users with default avatars were the ones appearing with the broken images. That was debunked after IT and I made a couple of updates on a ticket with a user with a default avatar and a user who had changed their avatar. Both showed up broken. IT investigated to see if it may be our esp but they said it wasn't and could be Jira. Can someone help?
