Email notification on failed JIRA Login

Is it possible to configure JIRA to send an email to the JIRA Administrator any time a JIRA user login fails?

We were able to achieve this by capturing crowd event UserAuthenticationFailedInvalidAuthenticationEvent in listener in version 2 plugin and then send notification email. We did not have to modify JIRA code.

This would need modifications in JIRA Code. Not possible via configurations.
