EazyBI: How to plot chart using Issue category vs Issue created?

Deleted user January 21, 2023

Category: ABC1, ABC2, ABC3...ABC9. There are around 8 to 9 category.

How can I plot Bar chart or Table by using Category (Dimension) vs Issue Created (Measures)?

There is only option for status category (To do, In progress and Done) but I am looking for Issue category(Custom field) marked in Red box in above screenshot.

Hi @[deleted]

@Walter Buggenhout is correct on this one, eazyBI does not yet natively support this field.

However, you can still import this field as a dimension in eazyBI with the help of Advanced settings.

First, you'll need to find the ID of this custom field. You can see this in your Jira -> Settings -> Issues -> Custom fields section by clicking on the "..." and hovering over the "View field information" link:

Now, go to the eazyBI app, open the Advanced settings and paste the following parameters:

[jira.customfield_10044]
name = "Issue Category"
data_type = "string"
dimension = true
Instead of "10044" use the ID you found in your Jira settings.

Save the Advanced settings and go to the "Source Data" tab, click "Edit" on your Jira source, open the "Custom fields" section, and the "Issue Category" field should be visible and available for import. Tick both of the boxes to import it as a dimension and as a property and start the import.

When the import finishes, you should see the new dimension under the "Custom fields" section in your report creation view:

Let me know if this works as expected or if you have any additional questions on this!
Thanks for raising this issue. I've added this to our backlog.

Hi @[deleted],

Have a look at the import configuration of the account you imported the issues into and check out the custom fields settings.

It seems as if the category custom field is not being imported. Locate the category field there and import it as a Dimension. If that goes well, the dimension should appear under Custom Fields, where you see Customer and Vehicle Name.

As soon as it appears there, you should be able to select it as a dimension for your report and display the Issues Created measure by category.

Hope this helps!

Thank you @Walter Buggenhout

Tried that too. It is not appearing in custom field setting as it the locked field, checked from Jira settings>issues>custom field (See the below screenshot)

Is this the category field from Jira Work Management? If so, then maybe importing this into EazyBI is not supported yet (it is a fairly recent feature).
