Due is EMPTY does not return all such issues

Hi good folk.

I´m searching for certain types of issues, some of them have Due Date other don´t. So I basically have the same search twice, joined with an OR. First part has a certain due date criteria and the latter part is:

assignee is EMPTY AND category not in (abc, def) AND due is EMPTY

However, when I look only at this latter part, it returns 10 issues. 

If I take out "AND due is EMPTY" and run it that way (assignee is EMPTY AND category not in (abc, def)), then I get 20 issues. But only 3 of those 20 issues have a Due Date.

In other words, this latter half is only returning 10 out of 17 issues it should return:

assignee is EMPTY AND category not in (abc, def) AND due is EMPTY

Any ideas?

Running on Jira Software 8.2.5

I did re-index one of the projects, that those 7 ticktets belonged to, but to no avail. Still doesn´t show up in the query.

Anyone else got an idea?

I did a little research and it is hard to tell.

The field 'due' has an alias 'duedate' so it can't be the reason that you are using the wrong field (More: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/advanced-searching-fields-reference-939938743.html#Advancedsearching-fieldsreference-DueDueDatedueDateDue)

The keyword EMPTY and NULL can be used interchangeably with the 'due' field so it can't be the reason either (More: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/advanced-searching-keywords-reference-939938744.html)

If the JQL itself is not likely to be a reason, I would re-index all the projects in categories not in(abc, def) and try again with the query.
