Our Jira is shared by several projects sharing the same issue types. Following Jira's Documentation how to configure context, our users understand that default value can be set so that values can be populated in the description for different issue types.
Will like to know whether this can be configured for different projects. E.g. Project A has certain value set for Bugs and Stories, while Project B remains empty as before.
Unfortunately, there's a weakness in Jira that means you can't mix and match like that - you'll find once you've created a context by type or project, you can't create other contexts.
This is because you could do something like "project = ABC" for context 1, then "issue type = bug" for context 2, and you could create a conflict there - what context would a bug in ABC take? (The fix is obvious - to allow project + issuetype contexts, but Atlassian never got much traction in doing that)
I see, looks like our team have to align on the usage or we will see lots of issue types. Thanks for the quick reply!
