I would like to know if we would face any problems running a self-hosted Jira with all the Jira data objects  in an Oracle Database Vault realm (Oracle 12c , any version of Jira)

It will work fine, as long as you, um, don't bother to use the vault functions.

The Jira user in the database needs full, unrestricted access to everything in the Jira database.  No other user needs any access.  You don't need Vault to do that.

But if you're asking because you just want to have Jira's database alongside others that do make use of Vault, that's fine.

Thanks for the answer.

In fact our Jira will contain sensitive information and we want to prevent DBA from snooping on it. That's the reason for wanting to use vault.

Yup, that's one reason for putting in a vault with others.

Just need to make sure your DBA is not a Jira admin and can't see the connection details for the jira database user.
