Does creating a customer field trigger "Issue Updates" notifications?

Before I create a new custom field, just to be on the safe side regarding lots of notifications, this question:

 

Is to create a new custom field a trigger for the notification-event "Issue Updated (System)"?

Since existing issues are "updated" with the new field?

Thank you for the quick confirmation! I created the custom field and no "en masse" issue-edited notifications sent :-)
