Does Jira add new dashboard gadgets often?

I don't think so. I can't recall when I saw something added. You might wish to watch this page for Cloud updates - https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/blog

one thing you might consider, if you have not already, is connecting to Microsoft PowerBI as it is quite powerful.
