Hi guys,
This question seems very similar, perhaps the same solution will work for me as well.
We are trying to set up a board to track testing work for different workstreams (projects and other work). I want to give every tester a swimlane and have columns requested, test preparation, testing and done. It should give us all we need in terms of running the operation, capacity and demand management and more.
We already have a finding tracking board within our project that has the columns found, ready to fix, ready to test and fixed. This board only tracks bugs, not work, so the task, test and most other issue types are currently not configured or wanted there.
My idea is to add the new test work board to the existing project (having the defect management process). Adding the task or test issue type would be needed, as well as adding a new workflow that tracks normal work instead of bugs.
So my question is this:
Can I best make a new project for this?
Can I best use the existing project for this? Maybe using new Jira functionality giving me the option of using different workflows in 1 projects.
Hi Dennis,
I think I would just try creating a new board (or using the existing board and attaching it to the existing Jira Work Management project). Here is some guidance to do that.
You will need to create a filter for the JWM project, something like Project = ABC ORDER by Rank ASC where ABC is the project key for your JWM project. Be sure to save the filter and share it. Or you can use an existing filter if one exists with the same issues in it. Go to your list of boards and click on Create board Choose either Kanban or Scrum Choose create based on an existing Filter. Then attach it to the new filter you just created. For the Location field, you will not be able to use a Team-managed, Business, or JSM Project - only Classic Software projects. Or you can link to your profile - probably best in this case. But this will not keep the new board from working - it really only cares about the project(s) in the filter. Then you are all set. You can modify the board as you need to. One side note - you will not be able to click on the Board option as normal for the project as that will take you to the built-in board. You will need add a shortcut on the left side menu and include a link to the new board. |
