My organization has multiple Jira boards that feed into project plans. The project plans themselves have some rows that are linked to a Jira ticket, while other rows in the project plan are related to non-board work. The ones linked to Jira tickets have the progress monitored by the work in the Jira ticket; whereas the non-linked tickets are managed by the project managers in terms of progress.
We have made several attempts to find the best set up in Jira to see everything across one plan. We've used "Plans" but haven't really been able to figure out how to get the non-board related work in to that format in a way that reads more like a traditional Gannt chart. We've also been using Smartsheets, which has more of that traditional feel of a project plan, but lacks the integration into Jira without the need for an expensive plug in.
We've also looked at Atlas and Trello, but those don't seem to have the feel of a project plan either.
Are there other tools we should be looking at within the Atlassian platform? Are we not fully tapping into the potential of the "Plans" option in Jira?
I would be very curious how others use Plans in Jira, and/or other solutions you've used to try to organize multiple boards with different workflows across one larger high level project plan.
