Deleting a custom field from a copied board

I understand that if I delete a custom field from a card on a Trello board, it will delete it from all the cards on that board. Every 2 weeks I create a new Trello board by making a copy of an existing board. If I delete a custom field from a card on the new board, will it delete the custom field from the cards on the old boards?

If you delete the field on the copy, it will not delete on the original board.
