Default assignee for a issue when a component selected

I created a jira project and created a issue. The issue is assigned to project owner. (Expected)

Now I created a component in the project, assigned a lead for the component and made default assignee as project lead ( as shown in attached image)

When I create issue with this component selected, I expected component lead gets the issue assigned, instead project owner is assigned the issue.

Can you please help me understand what this default component assignment really means.

Abraham, you will need to add a post funtion - Assign to Lead Developer on your workflow to get the issue assigned to component lead.
