We have a custom text field that we created to store support reference numbers for issues. Our reference numbers use a mix of numbers, letters and hyphens, so we figured a text field would be best. We entered the references manually and they displayed fine, even after saving. But a week later I have noticed that the values we entered have been changed.
For example,
10383, 10860 changed to 1.050811523E9
11448 changed to 11448.0
9223, 9485 changed to 9.2239485E7
BUT
2022-12/RQ-MCC/0102 and similar references remain correct
How can we stop this happening? Do we need to use a different type of custom field?

Thank you for the information.
To address the issue, navigate to the "Automation" tab located at the bottom of the right menu, as shown in the image below:
This tab lists all the rules triggered for that issue. You can review these rules to identify the one updating the "Support Reference" field. From there, you can refine or disable the rule to prevent unwanted updates.

I'm not aware of text fields changing the display of numbers; maybe the history of the ticket will give us some clue on what is happening here.
