Custom fields with default values are not updating when we import tickets via CSV Import

Hi Team,

We configured few custom fields with the default values for a project.

If we manually create Jira issue they are getting updated with a default value.

But if we import issue via CSV File , those custom fields showing empty value in them

What is the issue or kindly suggest resolution for the same

Hi @Megha P:

Check if you have customfields that have the same name as well in your environment with your jira admin.  We have encountered issues where customfields have the same name but are of a different type so it doesn't update them.

The solution for us was to slightly rename the customfield to identify what type of data they hold in parenthesis.

Yes the custom fields names are the same but the type is also the same

we have Text custom fields with the same name.

We have set field context to those projects with default text value when it is created.

When manually tickets are creating, default values getting updated but for CSV import they were not getting updated.

is there any issue with the same type of fields also?

Yes, most likely it's writing to the other custom field.  I suggest you rename of one them to avoid any confusion.
