Custom field validation when starting a sprint - how to?

Hi Everyone,
one of our project lead wonders whether it can be achieved that we can't start a sprint until a custom field is empty in at least 1 issue. I.e. the custom field has to be given for all tickets in the sprint.
Is there a way to achieve this?
