Im not able to make a custom a textfield optional. If I dont select required the textfield will not show in the ticket. I have look at Field Configurations but couldn't find anything. Please advise. Thanks!

What type of project does this concern? Get the project Type information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
Which of the fields in the image is the problem?
When you say the field is not shown, are you looking at the Create Issue dialog, or are you looking at issues that have already been created?
In the Create Issue dialog there are some options a user can use to configure which fields will show:
If you are viewing issues that have already been created, in the Issue Layout there are sections for fields you want to always show, and fields you want to hide when empty.
