Where did you apply this filter? As the board filter or as a quick filter?
In the first case, I would expect the filter to work. In the second scenario, it won't as the sorting is inherent to the board filter.

Thanks @Walter Buggenhout for the response. I am applying the filter from board settings> Custom Filter. Then choose the filter here as shown in the below SS:
