Creating a sub-task in the web app of Jira works seamlessly. Once created, it asks me for the product module and other fields which I am able to fill and then create the sub-task.

However, In the mac app, when creating a sub-task under any task, it does not ask me for any fields and directly throws this error message

Can’t create subtask. Jira says:

Product module is required.

I'm able to create the sub tasks in any browser via the web app since it asks me for the various field values but it does not in the mac app. Any help with this issue?

Hello @Riyaz Ahmed

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Indeed, the error you are describing where the required fields can not be filled in Jira is a known bug in the Mac app.

In order to properly address and fix this behavior, we reported the following bug:

Creating a sub-tasks with required fields shows a pop-up warning but not the create sub-task form to complete with the required fields on Mac App

Feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

For now, we can only recommend applying one of the workaround options below:

  1. Use only the web app
  2. Flag the field "Product Module" as optional
