Creating / Using Eipcs based on Creation of Story (Automation for Jira)

Jira Core server and Automation for Jira

Use Case: 
      End users create Story(ies) for a given customer.  This may happen at the beginning of the relationship or throughout.  I want to be able to report and manage customers by customer.  Each customer have a customer number (#######).

Desire:
      Requester puts in the issue, upon creation Jira looks to see if there is an epic for this customer (by customer number). If not, Jira creates the Epic and assigns the ticket to the epic. If the Epic exists, it simply assigns the story to the Epic.

Hi Adam,

I don't know your field setup however I've put together an example for you with a made up field called customerNumber to represent how you could achieve this in Automation.

The rule looks like:
