Create a custom field to show what was last updated for a task

I'm using Jira Software Management and would like to create a custom field that is similar to the Activity History view of a task but only shows the last update.  I want to be able to pull this custom field into a confluence page spreadsheet to show what was the latest update for any particular task.  Is that possible?

Overall I'm trying to find a way to display the latest update of a task on a confluence page when using the embed Jira issues/filter macro. In the Jira macro I want a display column that shows what field was last updated and what the update was.

I'm not sure if creating a custom field is necessary or if their is another way to do that but that's what I'm looking for.

Why do you need to display the last update made on each issue in a Confluence page?

What problem are you trying to solve by doing that?

Why is reviewing the history of the issues directly is Jira not the right solution?

There is no native capability in Jira that will enable you to get the last update made. I encourage you to think about the problem you are trying to solve, consider why you are trying to solve it, and consider if it is really worth the effort to try to create or find a programmatic solution.

Maybe there is a third party app that could help, but I'm not sure.
