Crated items vs resolved items not showing the resolved items

Hi,

I'm trying to execute the report of Crated items vs resolved items, but the report outputs a chart and results with 0 resolved items, when I have several with the "finished" status. I found some threads where it says that the Done column should be the last at the far right, or that the last status of the flowchart should have the Resolved state, but noe of that worked.

What could it be?

In this case I'm using the Jira Work Management module, and noticed that the flowchart admin is quite different than the normal Jira.

I appreciate any help.

Thank you

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You've run into one of the counter-intuitive parts of Jira.

  • Core Jira considers issues "resolved" if the resolution field contains a value.  (Any value, including "unresolved" - the field has to be completely empty for the issue to be unresolved).
  • Scrum and Kanban boards look to the last column on the board, not the resolution.

The created vs resolved gadget is part of the core of Jira, so it works off when the resolution was set on an issue.

I suspect you have not matched up "set a resolution" when "issue transitions into a status we consider to be done".  You do that in the workflow.  Depending on the type of project and board, this could be done by

  1. Putting the resolution field on a transition screen (ask the users to choose one)
  2. Ticking the box on the board definition for a column that is then considered resolved
  3. Adding a post-function to the workflow, on transitions into "done" status, one that sets the resolution automatically
  4. You could also do #3 with an automation rather than a post-function, but most of us will strongly recommend using a post-function or screen, rather than an automation

Also note, for 1, 3 and 4, you should look at the "reopen" type transitions - they should have a post-function for "clear resolution"

Thank  you for the reply Nic.

I've tried applying what you suggesting, but with no success. I think I'm in another version of the product because can't seem to find the features you mentioned.

Ah, you might be in a "team managed project" (Most places in a project will show you "team" or "company" managed project towards the bottom left of the screen)

JWM handles resolution for you in the board configuration - you can set columns  as "done" and it'll do the rest of the work with the resolution.
