Could you please confirm whether JCMA/CCMA can be explicitly installed from the Atlassian Marketplac

Hi Team,

I have a query regarding Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA). Is it possible to explicitly install the JCMA/CCMA apps from the Atlassian Marketplace in a Cloud environment?

My understanding is that for Cloud-to-Cloud migrations, these capabilities are currently available as built-in options within Atlassian Cloud. Could someone please confirm whether any separate installation is required, or if the migration assistants are natively available by default?

Hi there and welcome to the community!

You are talking about Cloud-to-Cloud. For that you won't need an app, but you will need Org Admin access to get to those options.

From there you will find the Data Transfer menu option you will need to perform the Cloud-To-Cloud migration.

I have a follow-up question. Since Cloud-to-Cloud migrations are now managed through the built-in Data Transfer functionality, does that mean JCMA/CCMA are no longer available as separate Marketplace apps for Cloud environments?

In other words, if an organization wanted to explicitly install JCMA or CCMA in Jira Cloud or Confluence Cloud, would those apps still be available in the Atlassian Marketplace, or have they been fully replaced by the built-in migration capabilities?

I'm trying to understand whether installation is still technically possible, even if it is no longer required for Cloud-to-Cloud migrations.

Why would you need these apps if the migration is done via the data transfer? Looking in the marketplace they are not available so I would have to say no.

I have a follow-up question regarding the data transfer option for larger Cloud-to-Cloud migrations.
Consider a scenario where an organization is migrating multiple Jira projects and related Confluence spaces from one Cloud organization to another Cloud organization. The target organization has Customer Managed Keys (CMK) enabled, and the migration involves a significant volume of data (for example, tens of thousands of users and large project datasets).
Source (No CMK) -> Target (CMK enabled)
In such a scenario:
Is the Data Transfer mechanism still the recommended approach?
Are there any known performance considerations, limitations, or additional planning requirements when the target organization has CMK enabled?
Does CMK introduce any additional migration overhead compared to a standard Cloud target?
Have you seen similar large-scale Cloud-to-Cloud migrations executed successfully through Data Transfer, and if so, are there any best practices you would recommend?

My objective is to understand whether CMK enabled on the target organization changes the migration approach or introduces any special considerations when transferring large volumes of data between Cloud organizations.
