Copying a custom field to system field upon create

Hello all,

I am trying, upon creation of an issue, to copy a custom field to the system field description.

I am using JIRA server 7.13.0.

Is there a way to do it without an add-on?

For example, can the postfunction "Update Issue Field" receive as a value a custom field? If yes, what is the syntax?

The reason, I want to copy the custom field, is that I have a custom description for different types of issues, in order to have a template when people open an issue.

You will need an app like JSU or scriptrunner to do that.
