I'm using a team-managed project. I'd like to set up automation so that when CHILD ISSUE A moved to 'DONE' the field 'Send Date' is copied to a corresponding field 'Latest Send Date' on PARENT ISSUE A.

In my case, PARENT ISSUE A can have multiple children so this field would update whenever a child is moved to DONE.

Is this possible / something I can accomplish? I've tried to figured out JSON but I'm a bit over the tip of my skis there.

I know I'm limited compared to what an Admin could do on the backend but I'd like to be able to accomplish it within the confines of the team managed project I'm in vs. taking that route for easier management over time.

Thank you!

@Brittany Bell Dalphond ,

This can be done quite easily, without JSON complexities :)

This one works:

PS: Once you add a field to be filled, use those 3 dots on the right > Choose 'Copy', then click on the blue highlighted text (it's blue in my screenshot, it will not be for you) to open the popup and set the 2 fields as shown

Use of automation is easy and reliable in such scenario.

I like this answer but have a complex situation such that when a PCR is approved (issue transition of PCR issue type to approved) then if any one of 4 dates in the PCR is different than the parent, update the parent with the child date.

I can do this with 4 rules following your answer, but is there a way to do this in one rule?

Hi @Ann Rumenapp ,

I would advise you to create a separate thread, referring to this page. That will give you the best chances of getting replies :)

@Brittany Bell Dalphond ,

Happy to hear that it works! Could you help my clicking that 'Answer accepted' button next to my original reply with the correct answer? That will make it pop up at the top of the thread, and help others see that the thread is resolved!
