Consolidate priority and avoid losing old priority on existing work item.

As title mentioned, i'm looking to consolidate priorities since we have over 15 with some duplicates just worded differently. I wanted to know if deleting the priority will also remove it from the work item it's attached to.

Ideally, I would want it to remain attached to the existing work item to avoid confusion for end users.

You will want/need to update all issues that have a “to be obsoleted” priority before deleting. Example...

say you have Highest and Critical and you wish to obsolete Critical in favor of Highest. You would do the following:

  • in advanced search for issue enter this JQL - priority = critical
  • use bulk edit to change the priority to Highest

now you may run into an issue with any issues that are Done as they may be uneditable. In this case you would need to consider. There are a number of posts in the Community already that speak to dealing with this but if you have issues finding LMK

Hi Jack, sorry to bring this back up. Is there a way, as an site/org admin, to see all issues in my site/tenant without having to be added to each project?

Sorry I do not understand your question. Could you reword what you’re trying to accomplish here?
