What is the best way to integrate our installed Jira instance with a client's on demand Jira instance? We need to sync-up on a project in which we both need our own Jira instances.

You may take a look at ConnectAll. It integrates multiple ALM applications including installed JIRA and onDemand JIRA.

Thank you for your response, Jobin. Does this mean that you are saying there is no built-in or already-licensed solution in our Jira implementation to connect between the two?

None without further development or other third party solutions. You can use the remote APIs (REST API) to do the same but you just have to code it, that's all.
